Certa Recruitment Policy

Certa Recruitment operates very rigorous quality controls in our recruitment process, conforming to all Department of Education guidelines.  This ensures that only suitably qualified and experienced teachers are made available to work in schools. These quality controls include:

o Identification check - against a passport, national ID card or photo driving licence, and where necessary marriage and divorce certificates.

o Date of birth check - against a passport, national ID card or photo driving licence.

o 2 Proof of address - Utility bills or Bank statements dated within the last 3 months.

o Qualifications verified with the NCTL and Induction Year completion where applicable

o Two independent professional references - one from a candidate's most recent teaching post. Referees must be in a position to comment directly on the teacher's performance in the classroom.  Referees will only be called at the school in which the teacher worked by using the phone number registered on our database to ensure authenticity. Open or verbal references are not accepted.

o Verification of right to work in the United Kingdom - We sight and copy passport and visas (if applicable) and follow the Prevention of Illegal Working protocol as set out by the UK Border and Immigration Agency.

o CV check - CVs must be complete and any gaps must be accounted for.

o Enhanced DBS Certificate - Enhanced DBS certificates are renewed every three years and should there be a three month break in service, a new one will be applied for.

o Barred List Search check - as part of the recruitment process and then annually to ensure candidates are not included on the list of known child offenders.

o DfE number for qualified teachers.

o Medical fitness to teach - All teachers are required to sign a medical declaration as part of their registration to confirm their physical and medical fitness to teach.
